Tracks and sessions

Track 1: Getting the most from your System i data
Uncover the necessary techniques to get the data you want and need both to and from System i and your other platforms. Sessions in this track will give you the confidence you need to create great traditional reports, manipulate indexes and column statistics, and understand some of the powerful reporting tools available to you.

Session topics include: DB2, SQL, embedded SQL, My SQL, XML, and Data Transfer.

Track 2: Leveraging RPG for System i application development
Dive into the modern development tools and techniques available to you when developing applications on the System i, and find out what the release RPGOA in V7R1 means for our old friend RPG. Round out your RPG skills with instruction for our world-class experts and learn how to code /Free RPG, how to get your RPG applications to access MySQL data, and best practices for developing your RPG applications.

Session topics include: RPG, RPGOA, D-Spec, /Free RPG, ILE, APIs, MySQL, and CL.

Track 3: Developing world-class Web applications
Attend the sessions in this track to learn firsthand how to use System i tools to build faster, more dynamic, and more powerful applications for the Web. Walk away feeling confident enough to develop, debug, and deploy your Web applications using System i-specific features of PHP and Java as well as the native RDi-SOA tool to create multi-tiered applications.

Session topics include: PHP, Eclipse, Rational, RDi, Java, and RDi-SOA.

Track 4: Extending your System i applications with emerging technologies
Uncover the tools and technologies you should be using to take your System i applications to the next level. Sessions in this track will help you prepare your applications for a Web 2.0 world, expand the capabilities of your applications with PHP, and decipher which refacing tool is right for you.

Session topics include: PHP, RSE, HATS, WebFacing, EGL, and Rational tools.

Track 5: Managing and administrating in a System i environment
System i isn’t only for developers! Sessions in this track are aimed at helping administrators get their environment up and running at optimal performance levels. Our administration experts will give you real-world tips and tricks to help you efficiently manage your System i surroundings from upgrades to installing PTFs to deciphering which administration tools are right for you.

Session topics include: Upgrading to V6R1, what to expect in V7R1, PTFs, improving system performance, System i Navigator, Systems Director Navigator, IBM Systems Director, HMC, FSP, and firmware.
